Challenges Faced

The Sarıkeçili Yörüks are female-led society known for their deep connection to the land. Their annual migrations, covering approximately 322 km (200 miles), are vital for preserving biodiversity and sustaining a healthy ecosystem. However, their traditional lifestyle is under threat from privatization of land, closure of migration routes, and the construction of large dams disrupting their natural water sources.

  • Land Privatization: Privatization of land restricts their traditional migration routes.

  • Migration Route Closures: The closure of these routes threatens their nomadic lifestyle.

  • Negative Perceptions: Settled villagers often view them negatively, adding social pressure.

  • Dams and Water Sources: The construction of dams disrupts natural water sources, forcing reliance on locked fountains.

Your support will enable us to complete this documentary, bringing global attention to the Sarıkeçili Yörüks' plight and helping to preserve their way of life. Funds raised will cover production costs, distribution, and initiatives to support the community directly.
